PSYCHOLOGY and COUNSELLING

Let’s work together and find a way forward.

Process

Mark takes a person-centred collaborative approach with clients, building a strong therapeutic alliance, while providing a safe non-judgmental validating space, and drawing on the following evidence based modalities:

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Thoughts feelings and behaviour all are connected, and sometimes we get into patterns of unhelpful thinking and behaviour. We can make assumptions and rules based on our underlying core beliefs, or the lens that we see the world through. CBT can work with unhelpful patterns to find new ways of experiencing the world.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

With a growth mindset and approaching life’s issues as challenges that can be worked through, we can use acceptance, valued action and commitment to find a new way forward and release old ways of thinking and behaving.

Mindfulness Based Therapies

Learning to develop the observer self and pay attention to the present moment, non-judgmentally, allows us to choose how we react to thoughts and feelings as they arise, as we acknowledge and accept them.

Trauma Focussed Therapy

Trauma leaves an imprint in the psyche, and gently working with the therapist in dynamic process to spend time in this space can assist in release and healing.

Psychodynamic Psychotherapy

Understanding and changing our patterns in the way we connect to others can be achieved through a dynamic process where our unconscious and subconscious is explored through a trusting relationship with the therapist.

Solution Focussed Therapy

Life throws up situations and issues that are challenging and difficult to navigate. Seeing an issue from all sides, developing reflective capacity, and exploring possibilities, can assist in finding an informed decision.

Interpersonal Therapy

The physical, psychological and social stressors or changes that we experience in life can result in a period of adjustment. Understanding our patterns of behaviour and communication with others can improve wellbeing and help us build a better life and relationships with others.

Compassion Focussed Therapy

Compassion is always in the interest of reducing suffering. A self-compassionate approach helps develop our own compassionate wisdom to work with our shadow self or inner critic, so that we may move forward practicing self-kindness, present moment awareness and appreciating that we exist in shared contexts.

Narrative Therapy

Gaining an understanding of our life story and exploring where things feel knotted in time, can help understand how we have got to this point in life and we can become less stuck, through the process of understanding our past.

Existential Therapy

Understanding what our experience of life is like for us can help us connect to our meaning and purpose, and to see the bigger picture.

Positive Psychology

Focuses on the lifestyle characteristics of positive people and groups, and the promotion of wellbeing, happiness, strengths, wisdom, creativity, and imagination. Emphasises how people change their lives for the better, and live a satisfying life filled with meaning, pleasure and positive relationships.
